Community Speedwatch is a local road‑safety initiative supported by Kent Police and run by volunteers from the parish who are concerned about speeding traffic on village roads. Trained volunteers use approved speed‑indication devices to monitor the speed of passing vehicles at risk‑assessed sites in 20, 30 and 40 mph zones, and record details of those exceeding the limit.
The aim is not to catch drivers out, but to encourage motorists to slow down, improve road safety, and enhance the quality of life in our community. Vehicles observed repeatedly speeding may result in a warning letter being sent to the registered keeper by Kent Police, and sustained data can help support future enforcement or engineering measures.
