Our two churches are part of a group of five rural church congregations known as the “The Bridge Group Parish”. All churches are within a few miles south of Canterbury and are overseen by our Vicar, Reverend Estella Last.

St. Mary’s Church in Lower Hardres has been a central part of village life for centuries. While the current building dates from 1832, it retains a medieval font from around 1217, making it one of the oldest surviving features in the county. The church is known for its simple, elegant early English architectural style and continues to serve as a place of worship, community gatherings, and celebrations such as weddings, baptisms, and funerals.
In addition to services, St. Mary’s hosts a range of community events and groups, including seasonal festivals, coffee mornings, and charity fundraisers. These activities provide opportunities for villagers of all ages to meet, socialise, and support local causes, strengthening the sense of community in Lower Hardres.

Nackington’s St. Mary’s Church is a small, historic church dating back to the 12th century. Its medieval interior, stonework, and memorials offer a tangible connection to the village’s long history. The church continues to hold regular services, providing spiritual support and a place for quiet reflection.
Nackington St. Mary’s also welcomes the parish community through special events, seasonal services, and collaborative activities with Lower Hardres, such as harvest festivals and joint charity projects. These events ensure that the church remains a vibrant and inclusive part of village life, not just a historical landmark.
